This map shows the extent of the
Tatra Area Research Group's (TARG's) Sphere of Influence.
It is an imaginary circle with a radius of roughly 60km (36 miles)
with mighty Kasprov Peak
at its center. TARG's sphere thereby includes most of Orava,
Liptov and Spis counties in Slovakia and also all of the areas
known locally as Orawa, Podhale
and Spisz in Poland's Malopolskie province. All known Goral
villages are included within TARG's sphere except those around
Cadca, Slovakia.
If you want to see where the Tatra mountains fit in the Carpathian
chain (and Europe itself), go to the Carpathians'
Satellite Image.
There is also a copy of the Spisska
Kapitula Diocese Map (circa 1920) which included much of
Orava, Liptov and Spis counties.
