The town of Lacko, Poland is located
between the cities of Nowy Targ and Nowy Sacz in a valley somewhat
north of Pieniny and Popradzki Parks. The parish in the village
of Lacko was first mentioned in 1252. In the beginning it also
included the villages of nearby Maszkowice, Czerniec, Szczerez,
Kicznia, Zagorzyn, Zarzecze, Wolica, Zabrzez, Wola Kosnowa and
Wola Piskulina.
For five centuries Lacko was part of the archdiocese of Krakow.
In 1785 it became part of the Tarnow diocese. Currently the following
three villages also belong to the Lacko parish: Maszkowice, Czerniec
and Szczerez.
Name of Parish Church: Sw. Jana Chrzciciela (Saint John the
Baptist)
Name of Parish Priest: Fr. Józef Trzópek. He
has been the parish priest since 1984.
